OMAHA, Neb. - Volunteers spent Monday night making sure 200 bats were safely released back into the wild.
Nebraska Wildlife Inc. rescued the animals during the winter, and two people turned their garage into a bedroom for the bats.
The annual release at the Joslyn Museum drew hundreds of bat fans.
“People normally start calling in December, asking when we’re going to release the bats. So this has become kind of a spring classic. And we’re very excited about that,” said Laura Stastny of Nebraska Wildlife Inc.
It took volunteers about 30 minutes to release all the bats from three spots on the Joslyn lawn.
